I love guitar…there is a resonance and sincerity that captivates me. In my first-ever conversation with William, my love for guitar was revealed along with his curiosity for how I use my voice to shift emotions for healing. Our collaboration initially seemed like an openness to the unknown but instead manifested in an intentional joining of sounds and energy. Instead of planning, we composed these pieces with complete awareness and surrender to the present moment. I believe in the healing power of sound to shift, move and evolve our emotions and experiences. I hope that our music inspires insight, peace and a knowing within yourself that is comforting.

A busy year was ending and Joanna and I were heading into the recording studio. We had never played music together before, so it was going to be an adventure. We jumped in, firing titles chosen at random from a book of poetry, the music flowing: it was like a tap that could be turned on. Bursts of music came out, energetic, brazen and filled with surprises and each piece bounced around until it finished. Over three days of recording we co-created 30 works. We have curated these in particular to move from short to longer ones and to balance the sombre moods with uplifting ones. -William Beauvais
